Garden View (a project by DDS+)
I worked as a project assistant on the tender documents, the bill of quantities based on the 3D documents of the renovation project of the Royal Belge in Brussels, a collaboration between the offices Caruso St John Architects, Bovenbouw Architectuur and DDS+.
The 'Royal Belge' building, occupied by AXA until 2017 and deserted since then, is an emblematic monument of the 1970s whose orange windows and corten steel frame are widely known and recognized. The building, at the centre of a ten-hectare site, is now the subject of a promising conversion project that will transform it into a mixed-use complex: a hotel (with a 300-seat auditorium, meeting spaces, a restaurant and a bar), coworking areas, fitness and a wellness centre will complete the office function while respecting the heritage value of the building.
